Tensions as Soldiers Invade Police Station in Ibadan 11 April, 2013

People scampered for safety at Mokola area of Ibadan on Thursday as police officers shot sporadically after some soldiers stormed their station in the afternoon The soldiers, who came on motorcycles, reportedly beat and manhandled the police officers they met at the station in order to avenge an alleged brutality inflicted on one of their colleagues on Wednesday by policemen. A human rights activist has been arrested in Zambia minutes after he appeared on live television calling for homosexuality to be decriminalised. Minimum Wage Protest Turns Bloody In Bauchi

  A protest match by aggrieved primary school teachers drawn from the 23 local government areas of Benue state, Tuesday, went awry at the main entrance of the State Government House where many including women were allegedly beaten by security personnel who also fired teargas canisters at the protesters. 100 vehicles vandalised, many injured in Lagos violence

No fewer than 100 vehicles were vandalised and many injured when urchins, otherwise known as “Area boys” on reprisal invaded four streets in Akoka and Pedro in Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State. The hoodlums were said to have arrived the area through the Somolu Market pretending to be holding a candlelight procession for a man, identified simply as Old Skool. The man was allegedly stabbed repeatedly by some youths during a rally organised by the Somolu LG Chairman, Mr. Gbolahan Bago-Stowe to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Solanke Street. 27 killed in another clash in Plateau

  About 25 people are believed to have been killed at Zango village in Wase LGA of Plateau State as ethnic militia engaged in fresh hostilities. Nelson Mandela was discharged on Saturday from the hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia, South Africa’s presidency said in a statement. IT was a Friday of carnage on the roads in Edo and Anambra states as about 90 deaths were recorded.
